A Word about Coaching vs. Counseling
Dr. Rodman is a Licensed Counselor and also a Certified Life Coach. I feel that my approach is more of a therapeutic coaching that can focus on both the “why” of the problem while also moving to “how” to gain freedom from the problem. As a counselor and a coach I feel it is important to look at the past but not to live there and will quickly shift toward a focus on the future.
I take a holistic and integrative approach to therapy which involves integrating various elements of different theories and practice. My approach is intended to engage both the conscious and subconscious mind to have them work in agreement with each other to make major life changes. I lean most heavily on approaches focused on how people’s thinking can change feelings and behaviors while also implementing an approach focused on helping clients achieve their highest potential. Instead of energy spent on the past or on negative behaviors, I emphasize the goodness in clients and work toward each person’s growth and self-actualization. I use approaches oriented toward problem-solving including Hypnotherapy, NLP Brain Training, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), and Coaching.
I also integrate Solution Focused Therapy and Brief Strategic Family Therapy into my approach making my therapeutic relationships generally briefer in nature, oriented toward problem-solving, and focused on a client’s present situation and distorted thinking rather than on dwelling past failures and hurts.
I specialize in working with individuals, couples, and families on issues related to all types of addictions (drugs, alcohol, sex/porn) as well as difficult, complicated, or strained family relationships, including marital issues. In addition to my licensures, I am a Certified Hypnotherapist, Certified Life & Success Coach, Master Addictions Counselor and a Certified Clinical Criminal Justice Specialist and am adept at dealing with all types of issues related to addictions, alcoholism, delinquency, domestic violence, and other compulsive behaviors.
Every teenager rebels against authority at some point - talks back, breaks curfew, or disobeys. But literally millions of teens go beyond normal adolescent rebellion to engage in out-of-control or dangerous behavior. If one of those teens is yours, you've probably lived through years of conflicting advice and pat solutions that haven't led to lasting change.
